Improving ICP 2024 Data Quality: BPS Lampung Holds Survey Officer Training

Bandar Lampung, 22 February 2024 - In an effort to improve data quality and officer competence, BPS-Statistics Lampung Province held the 2024 International Comparison Program (ICP) Survey Officer Training. The event was officially opened by the Head of the Distribution Statistics Team/Middle Expert Statistician, Muhammad Ilham Salam, M.Stat., in the vicon room of BPS-Statistics Lampung Province.

The ICP program is the world's largest data collection initiative aimed at producing Purchasing Power Parities (PPP). This PPP data plays an important role in changing the size of economic activity so that it can be compared between countries. In addition to PPPs, the ICP program also produces Prices Level Indices (PLI) and other regionally comparable expenditure GDP aggregates.u

Muhammad Ilham Salam, in his speech, emphasized the importance of officers' understanding of ICP concepts, such as PPP and PLI. A good understanding will ensure the quality of data collected and raise awareness about the important role of ICP surveys.

"Survey officers are the frontline in ICP data collection. Therefore, this training is designed to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out their duties well," Ilham explained.

It is expected that with this training, ICP 2024 survey officers in Lampung Province can:

1. Understand ICP concepts and methodologies well

2. Conduct data collection accurately and efficiently

3. Maintain the quality of data collected

4. Increase awareness of the important role of ICP surveys

ICP 2024 data will be used for various purposes, such as: Policy formulation and development planning, Comparison of economic levels between countries, Competitiveness analysis, Determination of foreign aid.

people's welfare.
